COVID-19 Safety Measures at the Girls Club

COVID-19 Safety Measures at the Girls Club

After months of virtual programs and providing organic, farm-fresh produce and weekly Wellness Kits for our members, families and community, we have opened up our doors for safe and staggered summer programming!

Here’s what we’re doing to stay safe

Building Upgrades & Repairs
Since mid-June, we have made in-depth building and maintenance upgrades to ensure our building is safe for reentry, including a professional deep clean of the entire building over three days; a complete overhaul of our air filtration systems; mechanical upgrades; and updates to our plumbing systems, including repairs to our existing touchless sinks and toilet flushes, as well as the installation of new touchless water bottle filling stations.
New Daily Entry Protocol
Our new daily entry protocol requires all staff and members to undergo a symptom check questionnaire and have temperature taken prior to entering the building. Members and staff are provided with a homemade mask, as well as regular access to surgical masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, and a dedicated hand washing station.
Daily Sanitizing & Cleaning
All spaces are cleaned daily. Additionally, all surfaces, doorknobs, and high traffic areas in our classrooms, labs, and public spaces are sanitized and cleaned between morning and afternoon sessions and all bathrooms are cleaned between morning and afternoon sessions
Small Outdoor Classes
No program will have more than 8 participants to ensure safety and social distance. Most classes take place in dedicated outdoor spaces when weather is permitting, and all rooms and labs have significantly reduced occupancies to ensure an indoor social distance of 6 feet.
Socially Distanced Meals
Everyone will social distance for all meals during breakfast and lunch, eating only in the cafe, lobby, Baker Hall, or our outdoor courtyard.
Mandatory Staff Testing
All staff were required to be tested for COVID-19 prior to returning to the building for summer programming, and are continuing to be tested every two weeks thereafter. Members are also highly encouraged to do the same.

The Lower Eastside Girls Club is here to stay and we are doing everything in our power to support our community in this time of crisis.
