Just as April Showers bring May flowers, here’s a bouquet of ways to make our Spring and Summer programs bloom!
In this e-newsletter:
-Walk-a-thon for Girls and Women's Health - Saturday, May 15th
-Cocktails for Camp! Thursday, June 10th
-IKEA Tag Sale Benefit for the Girls Club - Saturday, May 22nd
-Join a CSA with Breezy Hill Orchards / Pick up at the Girls Club
-Prophecy Theatre Benefit with Code Pink Women for Peace - Thursday, June 3rd
Thank you to everyone who donated gowns to our Gowns for Girls gown giveaway. With your help, we were able to distribute over 300 dresses to deserving teens (who can now save their money for college)!
Once again, the Lower Eastside Girls Club will be providing one of the only free summer camp programs for NYC teens. Teens will get their first jobs through our college and career prep program, participate in environmental initiatives, youth anti-violence work, and community art projects. Younger girls will be in our day camp: making art, gardening, going to the beach and visiting museums. Help support this great program by attending Cocktails for Camp on June 10th (see below) or making a donation to our summer camp program.
Want a quick and easy way to support the Girls Club this spring/summer? Stop by one of our businesses, La Tiendita at the Essex Market or Celebrate Cafe at the Bowery Poetry Club, for a healthy treat (or a delicious organic chili dog). Organic fruit, veggies, pasta and eggs available Monday-Saturday from 10:00am-6:00pm at our booth at the Essex Market (@ Essex and Delancey). Cookies, brownies, seasonal fruit pies, fruit pops, and our famous chili dogs available every day from 11:00am-11:00 pm at Celebrate Cafe. Both of these programs employ local teens so make sure to say 'hi' to one of the friendly faces behind the counter.
Our doors are open- we’d love to see you!
