Cocktails for Camp

June 10th @ Elsa, 217 East 3rd Street

6:00-8:00pm

$25 and up at the door. Open Bar!

Are you busy making your summer plans? Dreaming of long sunny days? So are we!
And we need YOU this year to help make summer a fun and creative time for Lower East Side girls.

Once again, the Lower Eastside Girls Club will be providing one of the only free summer camp programs for NYC teens. Teens will get their first jobs through our college and career prep program, participate in environmental initiatives, youth anti-violence work, and community art projects. Younger girls will be in our day camp: making art, gardening, going to the beach and visiting museums. Help support this great 7-week program by attending Cocktails for Camp on June 10th (see below) or making a donation to our summer camp program. We are also excited to be a recipient of this Friday's all female Friday Night Fights benefit for camp. Click here for more info.

Can’t make it to Cocktails for Camp? Please consider sponsoring summer programs for a Lower Eastside Girls Club member.
Full sponsorship is $500 per participant, and our goal this year is to raise enough to offer programs to 50 girls.

We appreciate any contribution towards a full sponsorship!

As always, our programs will be provided free of charge for participating girls and their families.
It will be a summer to remember for girls, and a much needed break for their families.

Program Update

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Quinceanera mentoring program, which pairs professional women with Girls Club members to help them prepare for college and career. With the help of 17 wonderful mentors, we were able to distribute a $1500 college scholarship to each of the 17 Girls Club members! We are now recruiting mentors for the 2010-2011 program. If you are interested in participating, please contact jenny@girlsclub.org. A special shout out to NYU for sponsoring our Quinceanera graduation party on May 22nd. Here is a photo from the party of all of the pairs:

Last week, we were thrilled to be chosen as a launch site for Duff's new line of cake mixes and cake decorating tools (Ace of Cakes). Check him out with the resulting cake and the proud bakers from our Sweet Things Bake Shop!

Want a quick and easy way to support the Girls Club this spring/summer? Join our CSA, or stop by one of our businesses, La Tiendita at the Essex Market or Celebrate Cafe at the Bowery Poetry Club, for a healthy treat (or a delicious organic chili dog). Organic fruit, veggies, pasta and eggs available Monday-Saturday from 10:00am-6:00pm at our booth at the Essex Market (@ Essex and Delancey). Cookies, brownies, seasonal fruit pies, fruit pops, and our famous chili dogs available every day from 11:00am-11:00 pm at Celebrate Cafe. All of these programs employ local teens so make sure to say 'hi' to one of the friendly faces behind the counter.

Our doors are open- we’d love to see you!
