10 Community Counts.
The Lower Eastside Girls Club’s programs build individual strengths and resiliencies. Girls are supported by a strong network of local staff, mentors and volunteers.
9 Prevention Works.
Our health, wellness, work-readiness, college and career counseling programs keep young women safe and focused on the future.
8 We employ teens!
Unemployment is rising and it’s hardest on teens. We provide jobs, training and career opportunities for hundreds of youth per year.
7 We partner with schools.
Girls Club programs compliment and enhance the work of our local educational community. We bring innovative and thought-provoking workshops to neighborhood schools reaching thousands of youth per year.
6 We create women scientists.
Our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) projects foster a love of science in girls ages 8–18. That’s a good thing because our new “green” building will have super science and technology labs and a 30’ Dome Planetarium!
5 Green is our favorite color.
We provide educational programs and activities that address global warming, food security, and other issues our planet is facing. We also run a local farmer’s market.
4 We're entrepreneurial.
Our economy runs on the work of small business owners. Girls Club programs like our Sweet Things Bake Shop and La Tiendita “Girl-Made and Fair Trade” gift shops teach entrepreneurial skills. And we’ve just opened a new business: Celebrate Café at The Bowery Poetry Club!
3 WE've gone global.
The Lower Eastside Girls Club works with and supports girls’ programs around the world. We have sister programs in Chiapas, Mexico; New Orleans, Louisiana; Kathmandu, Nepal and Kibera, Kenya.
2 WE're planning ahead.

Our mission: Raising the next generation of Environmental, Entrepreneurial and Ethical Leaders!

1 Our new building!
We’re building one of the most exciting and innovative Girls Club Community Centers you’ve ever seen, in order to house our arts, literacy, health, science and technology programs!
