The Lower Eastside Girls Club is hosting a solo exhibition of new work by artist Wahala Temi. The show, which is curated by Jeanne Brasile, features Temi’s current body of work in various media including; painting, sculpture and installation. Temi’s current artistic output is an expression of her experiences of having lived in both Brooklyn and Lagos, Nigeria during her formative years. The results are a body of work that critiques contemporary life in the West and elsewhere touching upon themes of abuse, power, beauty, control/submission and pain/sacrifice of African women in particular.

The Lower Eastside Girls Club Saturday Performance Series is a weekly afternoon performance and arts series, open to the public, free-of-charge and featuring line-ups of artists, musicians, singer-songwriters, MC’s and poets. This project is dedicated to upholding the Girls Club’s mission of offering free and innovative cultural programming to Girls Club members, connecting the Girls Club to the greater community, and supporting women in the arts.
