Register today for the 4th Annual Lower Eastside Girls Club Walk-a-thon for Girls' and Women's Health, a 5K walk-a-thon through the East Village to raise awareness of girls and women's health issues and funds to support the Lower Eastside Girls Club. This event is family-friendly! Husbands, brothers and kids welcome too.
Time and Place: The Walk-a-thon will take place on Saturday May 12th, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and will end with a finish line Block Party and health fair sponsored by Beth Israel Health Center at 1st Street Park, East 1st Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues. The walk will kick off at the PS 20 playground on Essex Street between Houston and Stanton Streets. Registration is from 9:00am to 10:00am.
Why walk? 100% of funds raised through the event will support Girls Club health and nutrition programs. Each $2,500 raised supports a full year of programming for one girl; $1,500 supports school year programming; and $1,000 supports intensive summer programming. Girls Club health programs include community health workshops, nutrition and cooking classes, body image and women's health counseling, running a Farmer's Market, yoga and dance classes, free summer camp for girls and more!
1) REGISTER & START A TEAM
Choose this option if you want to Captain a walk team. Team captains recruit at least 10 friends, co-workers, relatives and neighbors, each of whom raises at least $100 (from donations as small as $10) to walk together, so that each team will raise a minimum of $1,000 (or more!). Teams will compete for prizes in several categories including: most funds raised, best spirit and Walk MVP. There is no fee to register a team.

Are you joining an existing team? If so, choose this option to register as an individual. You will have the option to search for an existing team or join the Girls Club Team.

Search registered teams and donate towards a team or team member's fundraising goal.
